Custom Smart Phone Tray
I bought a 1987 Vanagon in 2015. The first thing I did was look for ways to bring it into the present. However living in Brooklyn meant I couldn't do much of the mechanical updates. The first glaring need was a way to hold a smart phone. The ash tray in the center of the dashboard was the perfect place to make something happen. The design shown here is a completly built out design to be injection molded for production.
Window Crank
When you can't find quality window cranks for your roller windows, you make them. The thought was to create a one-piece printed crank. When the parts proved too small to function, the 4-part design(at left) was the perfect solution. They've been road-tested over thousands of miles, proving the viability of the minimal design.
EXTRA
Design isn't something I turn off and on. Extra is the place that houses all of the work that I've done out of the office. Many of the ideas are solves for pain points that exist in my life, and that I'm sure exist in may others.
How
All of these ideas have been brought to life through 3D printing. The focus is on creating objects that are as simple as possible, safe, and efficiently printed.
All of these ideas were born from life experience as I believe that's the best inroad to meaningful design.
GAUGE
CLUSTER
An old car/van needs constant monitoring to keep it healthy. I designed this gauge cluster to fit to the center console heat vent. No screws of damaging of fixtures was needed. Specially designed clips hold it in place and it's been road tested over thousands of miles.
SMART TRAIN CLOCK
This project explores how to create a charming juxtaposition between "simple" looking technology and shape. The device is an internet concected Arduino Feather Wifi enabled board. The device scrapes the transit sites for a specific train and transforms from a clock to a train monitor once day. Just as one leaves the house. The design is inspired by a modern train asthetic that fits quietly in the home.
DOORBELL
COVER
Door bell covers are the product that modern design forgot. I wanted to do a quick experiment to use MODO and Solidworks to create a unique and modern cover that blends to the home.
GOOGLE HOME MOUNT
The Google Home Mini, is the cleanest of the smart home speakers. Its only issue is the messy plug and cable laying on you counter or desk. This is a simple idea that lets the speaker hide the cable and wire while hanging from the socket.
